Community Outreach Programs
WIP gives back to the community through its affiliation with the Young Women's Leadership Charter School. WIP's support includes a close mentoring relationship with the students, providing unpaid meaningful internships for the 9th and 10th grade students to introduce them to the world of finance, and participating in Career Day panel discussions.
Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago:
Excellence in Science, Math and Technology
The Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago is the only all-girls public school in the city. Its charter is based on the belief that a single-sex school for young women in the public schools can prevent the disengagement from math, science and technology that often takes place as girls enter adolescence.
Preparing students to achieve academically and preparing students for college and careers are two main pillars upon which education is built at the Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago.
Enthusiasm, energy and a vision of learning math, science and technology for the future unifies YWLCS students, parents, staff, board members and the larger education community of Chicago. In order to meet the goals of educating the whole woman, they also offer classes and projects in the arts, foreign language, humanities and physical fitness/health.
Vision
All young women have the skills, tools and opportunities to develop as ethical leaders shaping their lives and the world.
Mission
The Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago inspires urban girls to engage in rigorous college preparatory learning in a small school focused on math, science and technology that nurtures their self-confidence and challenges them to achieve.
